Hainsworth provides fabric to Film & TV companies, Opera Houses, and top theatres globally. Our fabrics are chosen for their quality, colour, and authenticity, and are utilized in costume design ranging from traditional to contemporary styles. They have been featured in numerous films and productions over the decades.
Recently, we proudly supplied local theatre Leeds Playhouse cloth for the musical ‘Oliver!’, based on the novel by Charles Dickens. As an award-winning theatre and a cultural hub, Leeds Playhouse has been one of the UK’s leading producing theatres for more than 50 years.
The reimagined classic, ‘Oliver!’, is a stage musical which has been adapted from Charles Dickens’ novel ‘Oliver Twist’, with book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. This highly-rated production follows the story of a small boy with a big heart as he journeys from a desolate workhouse to the paved streets of Victorian London in search of love and a place to call home, and is described as “a heart-warming theatrical masterpiece suitable for all.”
Ivana, Business Development Manager at Hainsworth, attended the live musical and found it to be a beautifully produced show. She was delighted to see Hainsworth Costume Fabrics showcased in the play, just like in the original CamMac production. Hainsworth fabrics were featured in the Frockcoat, Waistcoat, and Breeches for Mr. Bumble, as well as his understudy.
The Hainsworth fabrics used for Mr Bumble’s costume include our Ascot Grey Deskin for his waistcoat, Grey Melange Finer Cavalry Twill for his coat, and our Charcoal Whipcord for his trousers.
As a Leeds-based mill, we are immensely proud to supply fabrics to outstanding productions local to Hainsworth, such as ‘Oliver!’.
