On Friday 8 May 2020 Britain will be commemorating the 75th anniversary of VE Day when the guns fell silent at the end of war in Europe. Due to the coronavirus restrictions most VE Day 75th events and street parties have had to be cancelled or postponed but we still believe that this is an occasion that deserves to be marked. The AW Hainsworth mill will be participating in the #GreatBristishBunting event, where individuals design, make and hang their own bunting to display at home, except we will be displaying bunting at the mill, we are doing this to show pride in our country and to honour and remember the men and women that served in the war, many of whom were wearing Hainsworth cloth as uniform. We would love as many people as possible to join us by creating their own bunting and displaying at home or even posting to us to display with our own at the mill. You can see more information, download templates and get ideas for your designs from the website https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/4TrqYDyf4PMdLypxzyTwGDg/great-british-bunting. You can decorate with anything you want – paint, pencils, collage, glitter, stickers, crayons, pens the important thing is to take part! Let’s create a 75th anniversary display to be proud of and ensure this occasion does not go unnoticed! #greatbritishbunting #veday75 #BBCMakeaDifference #nationalpride
