Hainsworth fabric on the catwalk at London Fashion Week

27th January 2014

Yorkshire textile mill Hainsworth saw its fabrics showcased on the catwalk by two of Britain’s leading fashion designers.

Over 130 designers participated in the prestigious London Fashion Week’s AW14 Men’s Collection with buyers attending from 37 countries to watch shows, catwalk presentations and events at venues around the Capital including The Cabinet War Rooms.

Award winning UK menswear designer Christopher Raeburn, known for his creative reinterpretation of military fabric, showcased his new collection of menswear apparel featuring Hainsworth’s Merino wool fabric.

While Baartmans & Siegel, known for their soft tailoring and structured outerwear, also collaborated with the mill, using their famous Doeskin and air-pilot cloths.

A spokesman for Christopher Raeburn said: “As always, Christopher Raeburn is committed to manufacturing in the UK. British military winter coat liners were the inspiration for a beautifully realised parka with contrast sleeves, constructed in wool sourced from manufacturing stalwart Hainsworth.”

Designer Amber Siegel said: “Our new collection celebrates the clashing and complimenting juxtaposition of natural and man-made fibres. “Down feather bomber jackets, coated cotton city car-coats, streamlined windbreakers and enhanced parkas all sit neatly against the inky cool-blue British wools crafted with care and excellence by the renowned textile mill Hainsworth.”

Tom Hainsworth said: “London Fashion Week’s Men’s Collection is the strongest showcase of menswear this winter and we were delighted to be a part of it.

“Hainsworth fabric stands for quality, strength, heritage, innovation and elegance and we are delighted it is inspiring top British designers and is being worn by some of the best dressed men in the UK.”

The UK menswear market has grown by 12 per cent in the past five years and is worth £10.4bn. Major export markets are USA, Japan, Russia, France, Italy, Middle East, Hong Kong and China.
