Community Clothing

The new 'social enterprise' brand.

Community Clothing was launched in 2016, and designs beautiful, high quality, long lasting garments for both men and women. Its clothing range is built around classic wardrobe staples, which will always be stylish, and not date. The brand is a social enterprise, aiming to create and sustain jobs in the UK garment and textile industry, and to make clothes, produced in Britain, that people feel good about wearing.

Hero pieces include the men’s Peacoat, a real stand out garment made of Hainsworth cloth, Breton tops for both men and women, and luxury lambswool items. Community Clothing chose Hainsworth’s military grade wool melton for its Peacoats due to the cloth’s robust durability, which is ideal for the often-unpredictable British weather.

The brand’s Lucy Clayton comments:

“We absolutely treasure Hainsworth’s rich historic traditions – a fine example of the “best of British.” It’s extremely important to us to work with British suppliers, and we source as locally as possible, wherever possible. We love being able to celebrate the brilliance of British manufacturing and introduce new customers to this level of quality, something that’s often out of reach for people because of the price point.”

A.W Hainsworth has been manufacturing premium quality woollen cloth at its Yorkshire mill for over 200 years. Today, Hainsworth integrates the traditional qualities of craftsmanship with cutting edge innovation and product development to meet the needs of a growing and diverse global customer base.

Julie Greenhough, Marketing Manager at A.W Hainsworth, said: “Community Clothing is a real new one to watch – a modern, high quality brand, whose traditional values work perfectly with those of Hainsworth. We’re thrilled they’ve chosen to use our military grade wool melton for their beautiful coats, and look forward to working closely with them moving forwards.”

Community Clothing products can be purchased via their eBay store and Selfridges online.
