Commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with the Limited-Edition Jubilee Throw

27th May 2022

We are delighted to introduce you to a very special, limited-edition throw which commemorates The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022.

Woven in the colours of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee emblem – purple and platinum grey – featuring a 7-stripe design in honour of our monarchs’ 70 years on the throne, The Jubilee is both a luxurious piece for the home and a beautiful keepsake that celebrates a moment in history.

Developed in partnership with our sister brand John Atkinson Blankets by Hainsworth, the Jubilee honours Her Majesty’s 70 years, with seven purple stripes, each with ten picks, and two platinum grey stripes in picks of seventy and seven. Just 70 limited-edition throws have been woven, one for each year of reign.

Made at our Fully Vertical Yorkshire Mill

Each throw has been lovingly woven at our fully vertical woollen mill from 100% pure new wool. As one of the last remining mills of this kind in the UK, we spin the yarn, weave the fabric and finish each and every throw and blanket by hand, all on one site in West Yorkshire. This means that we have full control of our manufacturing process and can draw on the skills and craftsmanship learnt by our teams over the past 237 years.

Woven from 100% Pure New Wool

We carefully select only the best pure new wool for our throws and blankets to ensure ultimate warmth and comfort. The unique structure of wool has many inherent properties that cannot be replicated by any other natural or manmade fibre. Wool is highly durable, flame retardant, anti-static, hypoallergenic and temperature regulating. It is also natural and sustainable, as well as absorbing harmful pollutants from the air – it’s estimated that wool used in interiors can help purify the air for 30 years.

As Patron of The Campaign for Wool, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is heavily involved in raising awareness about the unique, natural, renewable and biodegradable benefits offered by wool.

Almost everything that is beautiful and long-lasting is made from wool.”

The Emblem Explained

The emblem design for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is based on an original illustration drawn by Edward Roberts, a 19-year-old student at the University of Leeds. Edwards’s simple line design, featuring purple and platinum, reflects The Queen’s continuous service and was selected by a judging panel of industry experts. The continuous line reveals a stylised St Edward’s Crown, incorporating the number 70, on a round purple background associated with royalty and signifying a royal seal.

For those who prefer a more traditional blanket, our limited-edition Jubilee Siesta is woven from 100% merino wool in the same celebratory colours of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee emblem, with whipped binding for a contemporary finish. Also woven in partnership with our sister brand John Atkinson Blankets, the Jubilee Siesta is available in four sizes, from single to super king.
